Fedora Core?

From now on, any time i see someone complaining about Fedora Core, especially on IRC, i could do so well as to remind them that Fedora Core is very much End Of Life and they could do so well as to upgrade to Fedora. There hasn't been a release since version 6.

I understand that but package names still contain the letters "fc", why?

Yankee zei

because they are used for comparison with older versions to enable upgrades. rpm isn't clever enough to realize that f7 > fc6.

Ok, thank you very much for the explanation. Maybe this little things help the whole Fedora/Fedora Core confusion.

We should train zodbot to do that automatically. Even better, write a spambot to go comment on all the blogs of people who still have Fedora Core in their vocabulary.

"fc" from package names is supposed now to stand for "fedora collection" :D

Yankee zei

nicu, we're at war with oceania and we've always been at war with oceania ;)

i like to use fc as a reminder that everyone can make misteaks

nicu zei

Yeah, misteaks are easy to to do: just try to make a proper streak and mess the things up :D (sorry, I couldn't resist, the typo was too funny)
